Bedford slips by St. Mary Catholic Central

Game Date
Feb 20, 2016
Score
MULES: 9
ST. MARY CATHOLIC CENTRAL: 8

Bedford 9, SMCC 8
After two periods against SMCC, the scoreboard looked more like football than hockey at 7-7.  The game settled down in the third period, and it took an impressive short-handed Bedford goal to eventually decide the game.  The Falcons had a 5-on-3 manpower advantage following back to back Bedford penalties when Ian Andres intercepted an SMCC errant pass and rifled the puck past a startled goalkeeper.

SMCC scored a minute into the game to quiet the Senior Day crowd, and it remained 1-0 until the Mules tallied twice in six seconds to make it 2-1.  Jake Stark put Bedford on the board, assisted by David Jeffers and Ethan Aubry, then it was Jeffers from Dale Davis.  However, the Falcons scored three more goals to take a 4-2 lead into the first intermission.

Jacob Schulty, assisted by Bob Bobroski and Davis, got the Mules within one, but SMCC made it 5-3 less than a minute later.  Jeffers added a solo goal and then Bedford capitalized on a Falcon major penalty with three power play goals to put the Mules up 7-5.  The scores were by Andres, assisted by Davis and Schulty, Stark, assisted by Andres and Matt Dulbs, and Schulty from Jeffers and David Box.

SMCC kept pounding away and tied the game as the second period came to a close, including a short-handed goal.  A minute into the third period Schulty broke the tie, assisted by Andres and Bobroski.  Within a minute the Mules were in penalty trouble until Andres got his game winning goal.  The Falcons got that goal back during their continuing power play.  Surprisingly, there was no scoring in the last 14 minutes of the game.
