Bedford High School Alumni Association: Informational Meeting for Phase 3 Lacrosse & Soccer and Community Stadium Improvements
TEMPERANCE, MI ─ The Bedford Alumni Association is seeking input from the community about the future work at the Bedford Community Stadium, a project launched in 1995, and about plans elsewhere in the community, including possible work at the Bedford Lacrosse and Soccer Stadium.
The Alumni Association would like to invite the public to an Informational Meeting regarding capital stadium improvements, which will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 7:00 pm in the Bedford High School Media Center. This meeting is open to all individuals who have any interest in learning more about the projects or how they could be involved. After a brief presentation, those in attendance will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.
The Alumni Association’s most immediate focus is how to move forward with Bedford Community Stadium at the school campus at Jackman and Dean roads. The facility is well-known for its football games and running track, but is also open year-round for community residents to use. The first and second phases of the project were possible only through funds and in-kind donations from individuals, groups and businesses, and include the now-completed bleachers, press box and concession stand. Plans for the third and final phase originally called for restrooms, but the association is seeking community feedback to update plans to match the community’s current priorities, which include adding team locker rooms to the plans.
The Alumni Association also recently teamed up with Bedford soccer and lacrosse clubs to discuss possible renovations, including new lights, at the stadium near Dean and Douglas roads. Though it’s at least a half-century old, it hosts both soccer and lacrosse teams from across the region as well as numerous community events, and it's known for its excellent natural playing surface.
Light refreshments will be provided the public meeting. Anyone who has suggestions or questions should contact the Alumni Association at email@example.com.
The Bedford High School Alumni Association was formed in 1996 to encourage camaraderie between Bedford graduates and others who are interested in the well-being of Bedford High School; to provide assistance for current students; to keep members informed about what is happening at the School and with alumni association members; and to undertake special, school related projects.
