Bedford hockey blasts New Boston Huron

Game Date
Feb 6, 2016
Score
MULES: 0
NEW BOSTON HURON: 0

Bedford faced New Boston Huron for the third time this season, and the Mules completed the sweep with a chippy 8-2 decision.  Seven players scored for Bedford, including two by freshman Jacob Nelson.  The Mules put the game away with four third period power play goals while the Chiefs were down a player from a major penalty.

Huron opened the scoring halfway through the first period, then a Bob Bobroski goal a minute later, assisted by David Jeffers and Jacob Schulty, made it 1-1.  The teams played the last half of the first period and first half of the second period without a goal.

Ian Andres put the Mules ahead 2-1, assisted by Jake Stark, then it was Stark from Andres and Jeffers on the power play, and Bedford had a two goal lead.  Huron ended the second period on a down note for the Mules, scoring a goal with just 1.8 seconds left.

Schulty put Bedford up by two goals again early in the third period, assisted by Jeffers, then the Chiefs got into penalty trouble, beginning with a major penalty for head contact.  Unlike minor penalties that may terminate when a power play goal is scored, a major must be fully served.  The Mules had killed off their own major penalty in the first period, and they were determined not to return the favor to Huron.

Dale Davis scored 50 seconds into that penalty, then it was Nelson from Jeffers 20 seconds later to make it 6-2.  Marek Snyder added another Mule goal, assisted by Schulty and Andres, and Nelson from Andres capped the Bedford scoring.
