Boys Varsity Swim and Dive results from MISCA Meet

Bedford had 9 boys qualify for the MISCA meet last Saturday. This meet is basically an all division State meet, without scoring. To qualify for the meet, you must almost have D3 state cuts. Teams from all around the State travel to EMU for this great day of competiton. The natatorium was packed to maximum capacity.

Bedford had a great day!  For example, out of the 70 qualifying relays from around the state, the team of Logan Cavins, Kevin Lingle, Tom Mays and Cole Ellsworth finished 12th with a new school record of 1:40.46

Out of 113 swimmers in the 200 Free, Cole Ellsworth finished 25th with a season best of 1:47.46. Teammates, Logan Cavins (38th)- 1:48.94 and Zak Smith (40th) -1:49.06 both swam personal bests and qualified for States.

Kevin Lingle finished 5th our of 98 swimmers in the 200 IM with a season best. (1:58.17)
His brother, Gregory finished 43rd after dropping 3 seconds off his previous time. (2:06.74)

Noah Scheffer (79th) and Tom Mays(46th) both swam season bests  in the 100 Fly.

Zak Smith finished 53rd with a 50.30 in the 100 Free.

Our distance races were great, with Cole Ellsworth finishing 10th out of 93 swimmers in the 500. He also set a new school record of a 4:49.94.  Logan Cavins (21st) dropped 7 seconds to swim a 4:55.43. Gregory Lingle(52nd) dropped 10 seconds to a 5:03.75. and DJ Asselin (54th) dropped another 2 seconds for a time of 5:04.25

The 200 Free Relay of Noah Scheffer, Kyler Schreder, Tom Mays and Zak Smith qualfied for the state meet, set a new school record and finished 26th out of 64 teams with a 1:33.19.

Kevin Lingle placed well(9th)  in the 100 Backstroke with a season best of 54.06. and Kyler Schreder dropped another half second in the 100 Breaststroke taking 77th with a 1:06.15

Our 400 Free Relay (Ellsworth, Cavins, Smith, K. Lingle)  finished up fabulously with a 9th place finish out of 64 teams, a 4 second drop ,and New School Record with a 3:17.57.

So, we left MISCA with about 90% best times, and 4 new School records, and 3 new state cuts. All in a days work! Woo Hoo! Go Mules!
