JH Cross Country summary from Mega Jamboree on Saturday

Bedford Junior high boys cross country team took 3rd at the Mega Jamboree on Saturday.  This meet featured 24 of the best junior high cross country teams in the state, and Bedford was just 7 points out of first place!  They were once again led by Ty Smith who placed 5th overall out of the 100's of runners.  Micah Scheffer ended up as one of the top 7th graders in the state with his amazing time of 11:27 for the 2 mile race.  Aidan Burns, Colin Balla and Zac Baughman rounded out the top 5 for the team, with each guy running a lifetime best race.  22 of the 30 boys finished with best times on Saturday.  Thomas Zoldowski ran an amazing race to win the reserve race.  Others who ran great races were Ethan Gartee, Chase Harrell, Noah Hall, Isaiah McGee, Brayden Powell, and Zac Ingalls who all had over 30 second improvements.  It was a great season for the guys, who unofficially finished as the 6th ranked junior high cross country team in the state of michigan according to athletic.net.

The girls cross country team finished their season strong at the Mega Jamboree on Saturday.  The varsity team finished fourth out of eighteen schools.  Scoring for Bedford were Belle Easton, placing tenth out of 151 runners, Molly Koviack, placing thirteenth, Olivia Kruk, placing twenty-fifth, Maddy Heinrichs, Macy Miscikowski, Sydney Dec, Anna Sutterfield, and Alex Knapp.  Six of the eight runners PR’d.  
The open team finished fifth out of eleven schools.  Presley Schmus finished tenth, Katelyn Dec finished thirteenth, and Cali Mitchey finished twenty-third out of 148 runners.  Sixteen runners PR’d including Addison Nowak, Krista Racely, Kinzie Kohler, Abby Klawonn, Emily DeGrace, Leah Driehorst, Anna Garcia, Nikie Pete, Annalee Appleman, Morgan Decker, Kate Conlan, Carley Kish, Caia Albain, and Lizzy Lietaert.  This was a great end to the season.  Our runners should be proud of all they’ve accomplished.  Congratulations, Lady Broncos.
