MULES: 6
CLAY: 1

The game was promoted as a friendly rivalry.  Bedford and Clay have adjacent locker rooms at the Toledo Ice House.  Both teams came into the game undefeated in the Northwest Hockey Conference.  The Eagles were the away team for the game but made it a “Black Out” event for their students.  And then the puck dropped.  Two hours later the Mules skated off with a dominating 6-1 victory.

Neither team could sustain any offense during the first period, with Bedford outshooting the Eagles 8-6.  With just under two minutes remaining, Dale Davis put the Mules ahead with the lone goal of the period, assisted by Darryl Kuchcinski and Ian Andres.

A pair of power play goals 33 seconds apart midway through the second period put Bedford up 3-0.  Jacob Ansara scored unassisted, followed by Jake Stark, assisted by Josef Molnar and Matt Dulbs.

The Mules put the game in their pockets with two more goals early in the third period.  Ansara picked up his second of the game, assisted by Stark and Jacob Schulty, followed just 19 seconds later with David Jeffers’ goal, assisted by Grant Harper.  Stark added his second goal, assisted by Schulty, later in the period, with Clay scoring the final goal of the game on a power play to spoil a shutout effort by Bedford goalkeeper Jacob Smalley.

Bedford doubled Clay 34-17 for shots on goal, as the Mules improved to 7-0 in the Conference with three games remaining.
