MULES: 6
AA SKYLINE: 5

Bedford finally got the 2014-15 season underway with a nail-biting 6-5 win over Ann Arbor Skyline.  The Mules were outshot by a 38-20 margin, but a strong effort by senior goalkeeper Jacob Smalley preserved the victory.  Six different players scored for Bedford.

Josef Molnar gave the Mules an early lead, assisted by Darryl Kuchcinski and Jacob Schulty.  But the Eagles scored the other two goals in the first period, including one with 13 seconds remaining, to take a 2-1 lead into the intermission.  A six goal explosion in the second period kept the crowd on the edge of its seats.

Ian Andres, assisted by Jacob Ansara, knotted the game at 2-2 with a goal 55 seconds into the period.  Then Skyline regained the lead on a shorthanded goal, but Bedford answered with a power play goal during the same penalty and the game was tied at 3-3.

Kuchinski made it 4-3 Bedford, assisted by Molnar, later in the period, but the Eagles created the fourth tie of the game with three minutes remaining in the period.  Schulty’s last minute unassisted goal put Bedford up once again.

Skyline tied the game again early in the third period, but an Eagle penalty midway through the period proved costly.  David Jeffers knocked in the game winner on the Mule power play, assisted by Ansara and Dale Davis.  Bedford successfully killed a late penalty, and the win was sealed when Skyline took a last minute penalty, preventing them from pulling the goalkeeper to get the extra forward on the ice.
